Consultation on activities for young people in Shropshire

Shropshire Council logoShropshire Council and its partners are considering how to best shape and provide activities in the future for young people aged 10 to 19 and up to 25 for those with learning disabilities.

Public services are changing with more emphasis on working in local communities. There is also more emphasis on involving young people in developing services. Shropshire Council and its partners want to make sure that as many young people as possible can take part in youth activities in their own area. Shropshire Council believes that youth activities should be enjoyable and useful to young people’s development.

By youth activities Shropshire Council mean things to do outside of school, at the weekends and in the holidays. For example; activities like youth clubs, sports/games clubs, art activities, Scout activities and many others.

Seeking the views of a broad range of interested parties is a critical part of this. Shropshire Council want to hear from young people, their parents & carers, existing & potential providers (in-house and external), activities staff & volunteers, Shropshire Council members, and others that the Council work with in partnership.

The consultation will close on the 31st March 2014.

The Perry Riding Group – new centre study

RDA logo for Perry RidingThe Perry Riding, Driving & Vaulting Group are gaining information from individuals, families and groups to complete a study regarding the proposed new ‘Cavalier Centre’ near Much Wenlock.

Information gathered will help them in their efforts to create a new riding centre that will provide more varied opportunities and cater for more children and adults with disabilities or additional needs than they are currently able to.

As well as horse related opportunities they are also looking to create a specialist outdoor activity playground, an indoor soft play area and training kitchens to support skills development.

The Perry Riding, Driving & Vaulting Group would appreciate your time in completing their questionnaire. For further information about the proposed new ‘Cavalier Centre’ and to complete the questionnaire please click here.
