Consultation on activities for young people in Shropshire

Shropshire Council logoShropshire Council and its partners are considering how to best shape and provide activities in the future for young people aged 10 to 19 and up to 25 for those with learning disabilities.

Public services are changing with more emphasis on working in local communities. There is also more emphasis on involving young people in developing services. Shropshire Council and its partners want to make sure that as many young people as possible can take part in youth activities in their own area. Shropshire Council believes that youth activities should be enjoyable and useful to young people’s development.

By youth activities Shropshire Council mean things to do outside of school, at the weekends and in the holidays. For example; activities like youth clubs, sports/games clubs, art activities, Scout activities and many others.

Seeking the views of a broad range of interested parties is a critical part of this. Shropshire Council want to hear from young people, their parents & carers, existing & potential providers (in-house and external), activities staff & volunteers, Shropshire Council members, and others that the Council work with in partnership.

The consultation will close on the 31st March 2014.

Multi-agency Guidance on Threshold Criteria to help support Children, Young People and their Families in Shropshire

The threshold framework, “Accessing the Right Services @ the Right Time” is a guide for practitioners and managers in every school and agency that works with, or is involved with children, young people and their families. Its aim is to assist practitioners and managers in assessing and identifying a child’s level of need, what type of services / resources may meet those needs and what processes to follow in moving from an assessment to a provision of services.

The “Accessing the Right Services @ the Right Time” Multi-agency Guidance on Threshold Criteria to help support Children, Young People and their Families in Shropshire, has been fully endorsed by the Shropshire Safeguarding Children Board (SSCB) and is now available on the New SSCB Website.

The SSCB Threshold document can be accessed by clicking here
